HOmeschool
The Prairie Ecology Bus Center homeschool program explores science through hands-on experiments, activities, and inquiry-based learning with lots of stimulating outdoor time for your students to explore and investigate freely using their own natural curiosity.
Homeschool programs are offered the second and fourth Wednesday of the month (typically October-May) from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Students will be split into two groups based on their age: ages 5-8 and ages 9-12.
Pre-registration is required for all programs. Students can pay for individual programs or save and purchase a punch card to attend many programs. Member cost is $10, non-member cost is $12 per program. Save a dollar per program and buy a punch card for 8 programs. Registration for each program will be needed, even with the punch card.

2022/2023 Topics:
November - The Gross, the Weird, and the Amazing - Nature has many fascinating things we
can learn. We'll dive into all kinds of happenings in our natural world. Students will learn about
nature smells, strange animal behaviors, nature's record breakers, and more.
December - Inventing Nature - It took a long time and a lot of thinking to get to where we are
today regarding nature studies. We'll look back at some of nature's noteworthy and underrated
inventors. Learn about how nature has inspired us to create and have fun developing our
innovative projects.
Jan or Feb - Focus Study - There are a lot of broad subjects in nature, but it can also be exciting
to dive into one topic and focus on all the cool things we can learn about it. Students will dive
into a specific subject area that they help to choose!
Jan or Feb - Winter Studies - We can continue to appreciate and learn about nature even while
we're warmly tucked away inside during the winter months. We'll go over snow science, use
cameras to capture nature, and do other cold weather studies.
March - Homeschoolers Choice - We love letting our homeschool students choose what they
want to learn about. We will sculpt their ideas into a fun combination lesson. Last year we did a
class on surviving the cretaceous period that covered everything from the dinosaurs to geology
to survival to explosions!
