HISTORY OF PRAIRIE ECOLOGY BUS CENTER
The Prairie Ecology Bus Center (PEBC) is a non-profit (501(c)3) based in the southwestern Minnesota town of Lakefield. The PEBC mission: Nurturing a passion for nature with hands-on environmental education. The Prairie Ecology Bus Center is a private, non-profit environmental education center providing outreach and onsite education throughout the southwest MN region and beyond.
PEBC programs serve preschool learners through adults using a variety of onsite and outreach programs to educate people about the environment and help them develop a sense of place and appreciation for the communities in which we live. Southwest Minnesota is home to a diverse environment rich in natural resource history, which guides the variety of programs offered through field trips, community education classes, public programs, large group assemblies and more. With education programs beginning in fall of 1994, the PEBC has had the pleasure of working with tens of thousands of youth and adults across the region since its humble beginnings and continues to build and expand its service for learners of all ages.
