Discovery Quest training workshops are available for those individuals or group leaders wishing to create a community treasure hunt for their own local areas. Each community has a wealth of natural, cultural and historical features worthy of a community treasure hunt! Treasure hunts come in a myriad of forms and highlight the special places each community has to offer while providing a fun means of exploring your community and learning about what makes it unique.
Creating a community treasure hunt offers excellent opportunities for developing a variety of skills and make for a meaningful way to engage the following people in community service learning:
- Youth;
- Families;
- Homeschoolers;
- Public and private school students;
- Youth groups such as Scouts, 4-H, Church, Big Buddies, Mentoring and more;
- Adult groups/organizations;
- Individuals
Discovery Quest training workshops take you through the process of Questmaking and provide you with tools and resources to go back and create your own Quest or to lead your group through the process of developing and implementing a Quest.
The Quests provide a wonderful way for you to provide an educational outing that folks from your own communities will enjoy, as well as, visitors to your community! Newly created Quests can be voluntarily submitted to the PEBC for possible inclusion in a 2nd edition of the Discovery Quest book and be posted on PEBC’s website for a future feature called “Quest of the Month.” People who would like to come out and enjoy your Quest can go to the Quest of the Month link and download the treasure hunt clues and directions to the site.
If you would like to see a one-day, Discovery Quest training workshop come to your area, please contact the PEBC at ecologybus@ecologybus.org or call 507-662-5064 for details. |
