Prairie Ecology, Animal Habitat, Wolves, Wetlands and Whales
Hoover Elementary-North Mankato 5th grade students were out with the Ecology Bus on the Kasota Prairie for two days in October studying an environment that has shaped this region and is the foundation of our rich agricultural heritage. By studying the plants and wildlife of a prairie, their adaptations for living here, and how they help form our soils, the students learned a new appreciation for the remarkable places that prairies are and how important they are for both humans and wildlife. One day was spent with kindergarten students studying Animal Families & Habitats. Other in-school programs were " Wonders of Wolves" - grade 3, "Whale In My School" - grade 2, and "Wetlands" - grade 1. Fourth graders studied the Seed Dispursal program on the Ecology Bus and were able to dissect a lima bean. |
