Forest Ecology & Insects
William Budd Elementary Kindergarten and First Grade students from Fairmont were transported to Cedar Creek Park for three days aboard the Ecology Bus where they learned about the forest environment and what plants and animals can be found in this shady ecosystem. By studying how trees work, what types we have in our region and which wildlife makes use of these habitats, students will have a clearer understanding and new appreciation for the forests of our region. The students were also taught about the most amazing mini-beasts around - Insects. They discovered the amazing variety in the insect world and learned what makes an insect an insect. They learned how the smallest of the forest creatures are connected with the biggest. |
