Take-Home Terrariums/Turtles & Snakes & Frogs, Oh My!
PEBC Naturalist Alisha Flemming traveled to New Ulm on June 13 to present two programs to New Ulm CE classes. Her first program was Take-Home Terrariums. A terrarium is a miniature, self-contained environment grown in a container. Terrariums are a great way to bring a little bit of Mother Nature indoors all year round!  Students learned the proper techniques for creating and caring for this mini-environment.  They built their terrarium in a decorative glass bowl using a variety of materials and plants to create a unique centerpiece. The second program was entitled Turtles & Snakes & Frogs, Oh My! Herpetology is the study of reptiles and amphibians. Students met some of Minnesota's own "herps!" They became fast friends with a live turtle, and came nose to nose with a snake followed by fun activities and games.
