Children's Community Garden
The Children's Community Garden (CCG) at Sparks Park, with the help of a start-up grant through the Remick Foundation and a donation from Thrivent Financial, broke ground the spring of 2009 with ground-tilling provided by Gary Bannister and fence-making by staff and helpers. Plots were adopted and planted by area families and PEBC staff. We fashioned archways from cattle panels and planted morning glories, which provided summer shade. In the center we built a bean teepee and in the corner a sunflower house. The plants are flourishing. A garden shed to house the garden tools and a composting area were erected by our staff. Bert McClain did the Spring 2010 tilling - readying the ground for planting. Volunteers are welcome at anytime to help with the garden maintenance. For more details please contact the PEBC at 507-662-5064. Feel free to stop by the garden, walk our paths and see how the garden is growing!
