The Prairie Ecology Bus Center (PEBC) and the Jackson/Cottonwood County Cattlemen’s Association are proud to present the Third Annual “Prairie Steak Fry” on Monday, August 9th at the Heron Lake Community Center, 312 10th Street, Heron Lake, MN from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. This friend-raising/fund-raising event (sponsored by Extended Ag Services, Inc.,/Extended Ag Insurance Services, Inc.) will be an entertaining night filled with excellent food, great entertainment and a chance to learn about exciting activities happening with the Prairie Ecology Bus Center!

The evening will begin with a social hour (cash bar) from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. A full steak dinner, grilled by the Cattlemen’s Association, will begin at 6 p.m. Dairy products will be furnished by the Jackson County Dairy Association. A short program by the PEBC will follow dinner at 7:30 p.m. Brent Pavelko will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and entertainment will be provided by DJ Tom Van Weston.

Topping off the evening will be an entertaining presentation from Al Batt of rural Hartland, Minnesota, sponsored by FCA. Al is a writer, speaker, storyteller and humorist.  He writes four weekly humor and nature columns for many newspapers, and does a show three times per week about nature on several radio stations.  He also is a writer of popular cartoon strips that are syndicated nationally.  Al has written for a number of magazines, movies, and books, including the Chicken Soup For the Soul series.  He is a contributing author to the book, Minnesota Bird Watchin, and speaks at various festivals, conferences and conventions all over the United States.

The Raffle Prize this year is a Toro Residential Zero Turn Lawn Mower ($2,500 value). Drawing will be held on Thursday, August 25 at "The Shed" in Lakefield. You need not be present to win.
