The mission of the PEBC
is to be a vehicle for understanding and appreciating the natural
wonders in our own backyards.


Large-flowered Trillium

 

Spring-blooming native perennial, to 1', often seen in large clusters on roadsides. White flowers to 3" wide, turning pink with age. Plants have 3 broad leaves whorled below the flower, which blooms in May. The nodding trillium is also common in and has a white flower that hangs below the leaves.

The name trillium comes from the Latin word for three.

“They bloom just about the time that robins appear and some people call them wake robins."
