Morel Mushroom

Among the fungi farmers and the mushroom seekers, the morel has been a tasty treat. Finding a the first group of these mushrooms usually is a signal of more to come.

A common place to find morels is in moist area near dying or dead elms, sycamores, ashes and apple trees.

Growing cycle starts when the soil is between 47 and 55 degrees F. High populations usually come with snowy winters and spring that warms up gradually.

A great spot to learn more about the morel is The Great Morel website.
